    Traveling Solo to Jaipur, India

    February 27, 2019

I made a promise to myself that I will travel alone at least once a year. I have always been fascinated with India– the culture, the architecture, the food, the colors– so vibrant and out of this world. So for 2019, I chose Jaipur.

Prepaid taxi from airport to Zostel 7 USD / 360 PHP

Entry to Hawa Mahal 3 USD/ 146 PHP

Note: tips 5-10% of total bill

    Tips when traveling to India:

    • Dress conservatively
    • Get a local SIM card for your phone
    • Watch out for tourist traps
    • Know how to haggle
    • Be careful while walking in the sidewalk / crossing the roads (or while elephants are crossing!)
    • Inspect bottled water before purchasing/avoid drinking beverages with ice
    • Learn how to eat with your hands
    • Bring medication especially for diarrhea
    • Carry hand sanitizer / wet wipes
    • Consider getting vaccinated
    • Beware of pickpockets (and monkeys!)

    Where I stayed: Zostel, JaipurL

    Where I ate:

Jaipur Modern Kitchen –for organic options and must try their momos

Egg Dee Sanjay’s Omelette –their masala omelette is bomb

Cafe Palladio –great ambiance and decor, but the food wasn’t a stand-out

Sethi Barbeque –tandoori chicken and butter chicken for the win!

LMB Restaurant — for their Rajasthani thali

Gulab Ji Chaiwala — said to have the best masala chai in Jaipur. And I don’t disagree!

Handi Restaurant — my best meal in Jaipur! Rogan josh, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala and don’t forget the garlic naan

Filled with gratitude for everything that I saw, everything that I ate and the people whom I’ve met.

    Jaipur, you are beyond beautiful!
