Taste Bacolod: Kimstaurant

January 14, 2018

To understand how good just about everything in Kimstaurant is, you have to know that I ate here twice in one week. By choice, and by my endless longing. There are plenty of Korean barbecue spots in Bacolod, and while Kimstaurant may not be the most affordable option, they may just be the best. The place is clean and spacious, their location is convenient and they offer high quality meats like their Beef short ribs, unlike their other counterparts in town.

Their Spicy Tofu Soup is flawless. Even their Japchae is impeccable. As for the barbecue, sooo good. However, we can’t grill the Samgyupsal and the Short ribs together because their staff said separate grills need to be used. I’m fine with that. But the major letdown for me was when they ran out of lettuce. If we ordered several kinds of meat for the barbecue, it is only right to expect the whole shebang to go with it. The rest of the condiments kept coming, however, when it was time to ask for a second plate of lettuce, we were told they ran out. A little heads up would have been appreciated.

Nevertheless, I still enjoyed my first time there that week (hoping that was just a one time thing) much so that I decided I had to come back for more. My second time there was so much better. Ordered practically the same dishes, but now with several plates of lettuce on the side.

I am literally counting the days ’til my next Kimstaurant binge. Sontofu Jjigae P300 (spicy soft tofu soup with mixed seafood and vegetables)Japchae noodles P280Marinated short beef ribs P550 / Samgyupsal (Korean style bacon) P280Drop by Kimstaurant for that Korean fix.
