I always dreamed of seeing Chateau de Versailles. Aside from its rich history, I have heard about its incomparable opulence and glamour. I just knew, I had to see it for myself. And boy, they were not kidding about its opulence and glamour.
The Hall of Mirrors was something straight out of a fairy tale. Needless to say, that was my favorite room in the whole palace. It was magical. The moment you set foot in the palace, its like setting foot in a time machine, and bringing all the other tourists with you, too. Nevertheless, it was spellbinding to see and experience the lavish royal chateau.
How to get there:
From CDG airport terminal 1 or terminal 2, the quickest way is to go directly to the center of Paris by train using the RER B and then to change for another train using RER C to get to Chateau de Versailles..
When at the airport, look for the sign and take the train direction “ Massy Palaiseau” RER B and stop in the heart of Paris at the RER / Metro station called Saint Michel / Notre Dame. Then, look out for the sign RER C and take the direction “ Versailles Rive Gauche chateau de Versailles “.
A single ticket CDG to Versailles will cost you around 12€, one way.
I suggest you Google the timings, it’s pretty accurate. Travel time is 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Palace. If you’re coming from the center of Paris to Versailles, it will only take you 45 minutes.
The Royal ChapelChateau De Versailles ticket prices depends on what you intend to see that day. You would have options if you only want to see the Palace, the garden, all of it, and so on. Ticket prices range from 18 euros to 30 euros per day. You may also take a 2-day pass.
Since I only only limited time to see Versailles, I booked the ticket for the Palace and the Garden only. That should be enough to take up your whole day. Which is probably why they offer 2-day passes to see the rest of the Estate.
I highly recommend booking a ticket online. And, get there just as soon as they open at 9AM (closed on Mondays). You’ll thank me later.
